Calling All Moms: Why “Selfish” is Actually Selfless

If you’re a mom, chances are you’ve already moved mountains today. Whether it’s getting kids out the door, prepping meals, managing work, or taking care of everyone else’s needs before your own—your days are full.

And if there’s one thing I’ve learned from sitting down with moms over the past eight years, it’s this: you will literally do anything for your family, but when it comes to justifying three hours a week for yourself… that feels impossible.

A Story Worth Sharing

I was recently sitting down with a new mom and long-time MVMT member. She’s always recognized the benefits of moving her body, but after a long night with her baby she felt bad about leaving her little one at home with her husband.

He encouraged her to go—he knows how important it is for her. But still, the guilt crept in.

When she opened up about it to other women in the group (also moms), they reassured her: she did the right thing. They reminded her that this time is sacred. That she deserves it.

That’s the power of community. Sometimes we just need others to hold up the mirror and remind us that taking care of ourselves is the opposite of selfish—it’s selfless.

Fill Your Cup, Give More Back

When you join MVMT, you’re not just joining a gym—you’re joining a community of moms who get it. Moms who understand the guilt, but also know the reward: more energy, more patience, more joy, and more capacity to give because your cup is full.

So here’s your permission slip: those three hours a week aren’t indulgent. They’re essential. They don’t take away from your family—they add to it.

At MVMT, we’ll remind you of that, every step of the way.

Because when moms take care of themselves, everyone wins.
