This past weekend, I had the chance to attend the Two Brain Summit a massive gathering of over 1,000 gym owners from around the world. The entire focus of the event was simple: how do we better serve our members? How do we help more people live longer, healthier, and stronger lives?
To be honest, I left feeling proud. Like really proud.
Since 2018, our team has been working with business mentors, essentially the fitness coach equivalent for gym owners. They hold us accountable, challenge us to grow, and help us stay aligned with our mission. I used to keep this part of the business quiet. I thought people might assume the goal was just to “make more money.”
But here’s the thing: if you know me, you know that’s never been the goal.
The mission has always been to help people fall in love with movement—whether that’s strength training, running, hiking, spin, whatever! We just want people to feel better, move better, and live better. And the truth is, most gym owners don’t get into this to get rich (spoiler alert: we don’t). We do it because we genuinely care. But running a business is hard. And if the business side falls apart, so does the member experience.
That’s why I feel so grateful to be surrounded by people like Will, Luke, and Brooke—partners who not only share this mission, but own different parts of it:
- Will is the architect behind our fitness programming. He builds strength programs that actually make people stronger—without wrecking them. It’s about progress you can sustain.
- Luke is the goal guy. Got something you’re working toward? Luke’s going to map out the exact path to get there, whether that’s through group training, 1:1 coaching, or nutrition support.
- Brooke is building a tribe. She helps women feel empowered, confident, and capable through customized programs that are rooted in real life—no fad diets, no extremes.
- And then there’s me. My focus has always been community. I want MVMTS to feel like the table everyone is invited to sit at. Whether you’re a member, a drop-in for a free class, or just showed up to one of our run clubs, I want you to feel seen, welcomed, and appreciated.
I’m the worst at slowing down to celebrate the good stuff—but I’m working on it. This weekend reminded me just how far we’ve come.
📍 Our small (but mighty) gym in London, Ontario, has quietly become recognized as one of the top studios worldwide for the things that matter most to us:
- Member satisfaction
- Client retention
- Community engagement
Other gym owners are reaching out to us, to us asking how we’re doing it. And while we’re flattered, the answer isn’t flashy. We just care deeply. About our programming. About our members. About helping people feel better every single day.
None of this would be possible without:
- Our incredible coaches who give a damn and coach like it
- Our members who show up, who support one another, and who refer their friends and family
Honestly, that last part hits the hardest. When you tell someone you care about to come check out MVMTS, that’s the biggest compliment we could ever receive. It tells us you trust us. You believe in what we’re doing. And that means everything.
So this post is just one big THANK YOU. For trusting us. For sweating with us. For cheering each other on. And for helping us build something really special here in London.
We’re not done. Not even close. But today we’re taking a moment to celebrate.
