I’ve been into fitness for most of my adult life.
During university, I trained mostly on my own. For about four years, I hit the gym solo. I stayed motivated and saw results because it was all new and exciting.
But after I graduated and moved to London, things changed.
I wasn’t in school anymore, so I couldn’t meet people through classes or campus. I was also a manager at my job, and even though I liked my co-workers, I wanted to keep my personal life separate.
I missed the connection that came from working out with other people.
So I joined a group training gym — something I had done back home in Thunder Bay, where I’d made a lot of friends through fitness. The same thing happened again here in London. I made friends, including Luke, Brooke, and Will.
That experience reminded me how powerful a gym community can be. And it planted the idea for MVMT Strength.
I’m Not a Personal Trainer by Trade
Most of you know this already. I’ve been in the fitness world for nearly 15 years, but I didn’t take the typical trainer path.
My real passion? Building community.
And fitness is one of the best ways to do that.
When you’re working out, you’re in a vulnerable place. You’re tired, sweating, pushing yourself. That’s when walls come down and real connections form.
Why I Started MVMT Strength
I didn’t start MVMT just to help people get stronger or move better — though that’s a huge part of what we do.
I started it to build something deeper. A space where people support each other, encourage one another, and actually care.
Yes, our members get awesome coaching and smart programming. But what really matters is the people beside you. The community.
We’re Big on Free Resources Too
I know not everyone can be a member at our gym. That’s why we’ve worked hard to create free ways to get involved:
- LDN Run Club — Free weekly running workouts every Wednesday at 5:30 PM. Open to all fitness levels.
- Yardwork — A men’s-only class every four weeks. No equipment. Just hard work and good vibes.
- Ladies Only MVMT — Coming soon! A once-a-month free class for all London ladies.
- Free content — Blogs, videos, PDFs, podcasts — we give away a ton of resources to help anyone improve their health.
Community Should Be For Everyone
Of course, MVMT members get more access, coaching, and accountability. That’s part of the value of being a member.
But we’re still committed to building community for everyone, not just those who walk through our doors.
If you’ve ever come to Run Club, joined a Yardwork session, attended a Ladies MVMT class, listened to the podcast, or read one of our blogs — you’re part of this thing we’re building.
Fitness changed my life. Not just physically, but emotionally and socially.
Now I want to help others find that same connection too.
