The Power of Personalized Coaching in Small Group Training

Someone asked me last week how long MVMT Strength has been open, and when I said “7 years,” I was kind of shocked. Seven years is a long time! It got me thinking about how, after all this time, I sometimes take for granted just how different MVMTS really is. I don’t mean this in an egotistical way, but I sometimes catch myself assuming that the London community knows what we do. Then, I’m reminded of how special our gym is when new members join or when people visit during one of our community events.

What sparked this thought was our very first Holiday Market this past Sunday. We invited a bunch of local vendors to set up shop in our space and kicked things off with a big, fun community workout, followed by yoga with our friends at &asanas. The energy in the room was incredible!

The community workout had about 30 participants, which is huge for us since we cap our regular Strength and Conditioning classes at 14 people. While our space is large enough to accommodate 30, as coaches, we definitely notice the difference. Big classes are exciting because of the energy and buzz, and that’s why we love hosting these kinds of events to bring the MVMT community and the greater London community together. But big classes come with challenges: exercise selection, movement standards, class flow, and most importantly, coaching can sometimes get compromised.

This brings me to why coaching is such a huge focus for us at MVMT Strength. In my opinion, it’s one of the key areas where we excel.

If you’ve ever done Personal Training or Semi-Private Training with us, you already know that coaching is top-notch, focusing on technique to help maximize results. But this same level of care and attention applies to our Group Strength and Conditioning classes. Because we cap these classes at 14 people, our coaches can do what they’re meant to do: coach.

During our group classes, you’ll always get feedback. Whether it’s a suggestion to adjust your form, encouragement to reinforce positive movement patterns, or guidance on progressions, our coaches are there to ensure you’re moving safely and effectively.

During the strength portion of our classes, we have members partner up, meaning one person is working while the other is resting. This setup allows our coaches to focus on only seven people moving at a time, making it even easier to give individualized attention to every member.

We also offer a level of customization in our group classes that you won’t find everywhere. For example, if someone like Laura has been with us for a while and is comfortable with barbell back squats, a coach might encourage her to try barbell front squats. They’d teach her proper technique, suggest starting with a lighter weight to build confidence, and support her in exploring a new challenge.

This level of coaching is one of the reasons we keep our class sizes small. It ensures that every member feels seen, supported, and confident in their progress. Whether you’re brand new to the gym or a long-time MVMT member, you’re going to get the attention and guidance you need to grow.

At MVMT Strength, coaching isn’t just about correcting form—it’s about helping you unlock your potential. It’s about creating an environment where you feel safe to try something new, push your limits, and move closer to your goals.

This emphasis on coaching is at the heart of everything we do. It’s not just about exercise—it’s about building trust, confidence, and results for every member of our community. So if you’ve been with us for a while, this might feel like second nature, but trust me—this level of coaching is what makes MVMT truly special. 😊
