As a business owner, I’ve got to admit—I’m not a huge fan of discounts. Don’t get me wrong, as a buyer, everyone loves snagging a deal. But as a business, discounts can come with some unintended consequences.
Think about this: Have you ever bought something full price only to see it go on sale the next week? Frustrating, right? It leaves a sour taste and can even lead to resentment toward the business. It’s the kind of experience I want to avoid for our MVMT Strength community.
When we first started MVMT Strength, I’ll be honest—we did offer discounts here and there to bring people in. But it never felt fair. I’d see loyal members who had been with us from the start paying full price while newer members got in at a lower rate. It felt like we were devaluing the commitment our long-time members had made to us. That experience taught me an important lesson: fairness and consistency are far more valuable than a quick bump in sign-ups.
Before I started MVMT Strength, I worked for Apple. As you probably know, Apple doesn’t discount their products in their stores or on their website. Instead, during Black Friday, they might sweeten the deal with a gift card—but the price of their products stays consistent. The idea is simple: the value of their products doesn’t fluctuate, and customers can feel confident knowing they won’t find a better deal elsewhere the next day.
That philosophy stuck with me. At MVMT Strength, we’ve adopted a similar approach: we don’t discount memberships. Could it be an easy way to bring people into our community? Sure. But it wouldn’t be fair to our existing members who are already paying full price and investing in their health and fitness.
When you buy a membership with us, you can rest easy knowing we value consistency and fairness. While prices may increase over time to reflect the value and growth of our offerings, you’ll never see memberships discounted tomorrow, next week, or next month. We believe in honoring the commitment our members make when they join us.
Instead of focusing on discounts, we put all our energy into making sure every member gets incredible value from their time with us. From thoughtful programming to an amazing community of like-minded people, we want to make your experience at MVMT Strength something you’d choose again and again—at full price.
